Lately I’ve noticed a lot of muted black and white images popping up online, I really love the look so decided to give it a try myself this evening. Black & white photography is not something I’ve experimented with much, so it’s been fun playing around and finding what works. Not quite sure I got the look I wanted here, but I’ll keep trying until it’s right!
This batch of images is from our photowalk in Dublin’s Botanic Gardens last Sunday. It was a pleasure to have a wander with some new and old faces, accompanied by some much welcomed sunshine. The gardens were beautiful as always, as were the giant slices of cake we enjoyed in the cafe afterwards ;)
If you fancy joining in on any future photowalks then feel welcome to join our Facebook group. We’ll post details of any future walks up there, as well as photos from past walks we’ve taken together.

I love that look! It really works well with some of the pattern images, doesn’t it?
Oh, Éad! I really, really love these! Not sure what look you were going for but I would say you’ve more than succeeded. They are marvelous studies! Thank you so much for sharing. And I would love to come on the next walk. :) xo – g
Very interesting choice particularly with such colourful subjects. I think the ferns and glasshouses shots work best. Thanks for sharing!
i love these. I know exactly what you’re aiming for and I think you’re pretty close.
Do you use lightroom ver3? If so try playing with the grain slider and I think these will be utterly beaut.
Very nice indeed!

Great photos, Eadaoin!
Yes, those slices were huge indeed!
Have you ever read Black + White Photography magazine? I love it!
At the moment I’m trying Lomography’s Lady Grey and Earl Grey b&w films and I’m quite happy with the results.
Wow, these black and white photos are amazing. I always find black and white captivating – like a story to tell.
Gorgeous! It’s great to see the little snowdrops peeking their heads out : )

Love this look, it’s timeless, very eerie.
Beautiful studies; just really wonderful images. Love the look; love the tones. I’m usually drawn to color images, but there’s something really strong about these images.
