Hello there, welcome to City of Blackbirds. I’m Éadaoin, the blogger and photographer behind this space. I’ve been living in Dublin, Ireland, for the last fifteen years, and use this blog to record my photographic adventures in the city as well as the other places I visit around the country. My passion lies in garden and flower photography, so you’ll find this blog full of images of the flora, gardens, and green spaces of Ireland.
The name City of Blackbirds refers to my first experiences adjusting to urban life after growing up in the Irish countryside. I was surprised to discover that city birds, confused by street lights, sing deep in the night when they really should be asleep. The very first Dublin house I lived in had a blackbird who regularly visited the garden in the wee hours and woke me up with his song. Since this blog is about the things I find beautiful in my daily life, it just made sense to name it after one of the most beautiful things I have discovered here.
Through a combination of photography and words my desire is to reflect the harmony I see in the world I inhabit. I love to shoot plants & flowers, good food and inspiring places, showing off Ireland at her most beautiful.
I’m very interested in the topics of creativity and self development, and have found blogging to be a wonderful creative outlet, as well as a fun way to connect with like minded people around the world.
